On July 29th, Uranus stations retrograde, which emphasizes Uranus themes for the end of July, and beginning of August: shocks, surprises, disruptions to the status quo. Mercury (communication) square Mars (anger) (also July 29th) could bring some tension to communications and thought. Think before you speak, but don’t avoid conflict. There is opportunity to bring some closure to, or at least to grapple with, what went on earlier in July. With Uranus conjunct to Eris, there is likely to be discussion or thought around feeling left out, disenfranchised, disempowered. We all need freedom. What needs to shift so we can be free?
At the same time, Uranus makes a harmonious trine with Mercury (July 27th), as well as Venus (July 31st), activating the positive manifestations of Uranus. This brings in insight, uniqueness, innovation, creativity, welcome surprises, and destined connections.
The New Moon happens at 1:44 PST (4:44 EST; 9:44 in the UK) at 10 degrees of Leo. Leo is all about creativity, self expression, joy, and play. This signals a new beginning in these areas. Trine to Saturn in Sagittarius, the creativity is paired with discipline, structure, and longevity. So whatever we create now has staying power. Leo is all about heart. The easiest way to access the warmth, generosity, and creativity of Leo is with gratitude. Practice gratitude and witness inspired creativity transform your life.
Leo has flare, and isn’t afraid to take centre stage. Leo revels in being the centre of attention. That may sound selfish, but we all benefit: life would be dull if no one ever took to the stage to entertain us. Where is the stage in your life? Where can you, with courage and heart, show your flare, and create for the enjoyment of others?
The newness of this new moon is emphasized by Mars moving from intense, emotive Scorpio, into fiery, adventurous Sagittarius on the same day as the New Moon. Mars in Scorpio dug up some old shit for us to work through. That’s over. Now, we can get on with the summer and have some fun.
The New Moon is inconjunct to Neptune, meaning there is an adjustment required. Neptune conjunct the South Node for the next few months may draw us toward habitual methods of escape: addiction, excessive television, dissociation, avoidance, etc. The opportunity is to feel the pull toward the past, toward our undoing, to see so clearly how our habits foil us, and to head in the exact opposite direction. Mercury opposite Neptune on August 7th will bring awareness to these themes. Mercury conjunct the North Node on August 8th sets our sights on evolution.
I list all major aspects and a short description of their meanings in a calendar to help you keep track of the astrology. You can sign up for the calendar and Moon Reports here. :)
