Amid the potential confusion and trials brought on by the Saturn-Neptune square, we have the second full moon in a row in Sagittarius on June 20th, which brings a double emphasis this month to personal truth and intuitive knowing. Two weeks ago we experienced a New Moon Grand Square, the main theme of which was major endings and beginnings. So now, with the full moon, the height of the lunar cycle, perhaps we have some more clarity with regards to which patterns, dynamics, relationships, jobs, environments to leave behind, and where we are headed.
However, since the Saturn-Neptune square forms the backdrop, there still may be some confusion in the air, or fantasy masking as reality. This aspect is highlighted at the full moon as Mercury sweeps in to oppose Saturn and square Neptune forming a T-square. Confusion is the preliminary to clarity. Clarity is coming.
Know that whatever is falling away or breaking apart has had its time. It’s time to let go. You may wish to perform a ritual to aid in releasing. My personal favourite is to write down that which I wish to leave behind, then burn the paper, watch the words disintegrate, feel the patterns in the body dissolve. (Please be fire safe!).
We are moving into a new cycle, a new age. Transformations often are painful and tumultuous as there is rapid change, disintegration, and growth. But the more we understand that we are undergoing spiritual evolution, the more graceful will be the shift.
We are nearing the end of Mars retrograde which began April 17th (which is felt most acutely by those with Aries and Scorpio influences). So if you’ve felt like things have been moving backwards, or slowly and awkwardly; if you’ve had little energy, or perhaps injuries or illnesses; or have been losing, misplacing, or dropping things… well, that’s nearly over. Our ride has been rough, but the road ahead is smooth. The pace will quicken come early July and will continue to pick up through mid-summer. Hopefully we’ve had a chance to rest, and come to a better sense of how to use our energy and assertion more wisely.
Personally I’ve been going to physio for a back injury and have learned so much about my body. I’ve had to relearn how to do certain yoga poses, and have had to slow down my practice, and then build it up again with the correct alignment. It’s been like a reset, as I’ve relearned how to better use my energy and body in yoga, and therefore also in life.
There is also an opportunity to understand better the use of anger and assertion. When does anger serve and when is it merely wasted energy? Often we hold onto anger and it only hurts us and accomplishes little. Certainly not a wise use of energy. However, there are moments when anger serves an important function and ought to be expressed. This reassessment of anger is also a theme of the Eris-Uranus conjunction which is exact this June, and then again in September.
Eris is a dwarf planet which represents the fierce feminine and divine righteous anger. Uranus is the revolutionary impulse, individuality and freedom. Since Eris was discovered only in 2005, this is the first Eris-Uranus conjunction that humanity is aware of, and therefore, that we are able integrate into consciousness. Notice themes of the fierce feminine surfacing, and the ways in which society is beginning to respect this energy, or alternatively, to push back against it. I believe the push-back is the last gasp of the dying patriarchy (which may take a few decades to finally expire). (Hopeful thinking? Maybe, but where we set our sights is where we head.)
Finally, June 20th is the summer solstice, the longest day of the year in the North, a time to celebrate light and life and the solar influence in each of us. Amid all the change and transformation, this is an opportunity to pause and reflect. May we find light in these trying times. May we hold to hope and the vision of what we might become.
