This week, we may be feeling the aftermath of last weekend’s potent Solar Eclipse. The time is still ripe for setting intentions, and contemplating the meaning of this eclipse for you. Something is being eclipsed out of our lives, making way for something new. It has to do with work, service, health, and daily routine. Perhaps you’re ending or beginning a new job, thinking differently about your job, setting healthier boundaries around work, releasing old wounds having to do with work (e.g. around subservience, or overworking). It could be a renewed sense of service, or a more efficient schedule.
This week is coloured by an opposition between Neptune, and Jupiter (exact on Wednesday, September 17th), which also triggers the longterm square between Saturn and Neptune. This aspect can elicit confusion. There is a murky, vague feeling, making it difficult to see clearly. This clouds our ability to think logically, and make decisions. However, it’s great for feeling, letting go of the need to know, and for acknowledging the interconnectedness between all beings.
The square between Saturn and Neptune will be in effect till the end of 2016. It challenges us to reconcile our spiritual life with “the real world”. It asks us to maintain our connection to our spirituality, and yet honour our worldly obligations; to be practical dreamers; to keep our feet in the ground, head in the sky. A potent meditation to work with this aspect is to bring awareness to the crown chakra at the top of the head, visualize energy come in from the sky, flow down the spine to the root chakra at the base of the spine, to our feet and into the earth--helping us to ground our spiritual connection.
Because Saturn is in the very last degrees of Scorpio, there is a cleansing going in, in which negativity, unhealthy patterns, shadow elements, fears, and anger are coming to the surface to be released. If you’ve been feeling more negativity, or shown your shadow lately, allow these energies to be witnessed and released. On Thursday, September 17th, Saturn leaves Scorpio and enters Sagittarius, where it will be for the next two years. This marks a shift in Saturnian energy, from cleansing deep emotions, and toward lessons around belief, dogma, and expansion.
On the same day that Saturn shifts signs, Thursday, September 17th, Mercury stations retrograde in Libra until October 9th. This turns our communication skills within, and back over, helping us to contemplate, review, rework, edit, rethink, redo. The themes of this retrograde are relationship, balance, justice, and harmony. This isn’t the best time to sign contracts, or move ahead with new projects, especially in the areas mentioned. However, life goes on (I just started a new job, despite that it’s not the best time--and indeed, there have been some hiccups in the process--but what can you do!)--so do what you need to, and release any fear around the decisions you need to make. Try to maintain flexibility, as conditions are more likely to change during Mercury retrograde. Pay attention on Thursday, as often the themes of a retrograde cycle are highlighted on the day the planet changes direction.
Have a beautiful week, my friends.
