Sunday June 28 Venus trine Uranus (Creative inspiration and insight)
For the next two weeks Uranus, Jupiter and Venus conspire to bring us gifts and insight. However, Mercury square Neptune means there is also the potential for us to stand in the way of our own luck. To receive the gifts, we have to get out of our own way, SEE them, be open to them, and actually, actively RECEIVE.
Inspiration: Venus travels through Leo, approaching Jupiter (they join up on June 30th), and this week, both of them trine Uranus. Venus and Jupiter in Leo are fun, creative, abundant, playful and when they contact Uranus, there can be sudden bolts of inspiration, ideas and opportunity.
But. The mind and ego can stand in the way.
Confusion: Mercury and Neptune have been squaring off for two months now (this week, the square goes exact for the third time since early May). Mercury in Gemini is the mind, communication, information. Neptune in Pisces is dreamy, spiritual, intuitive. Seen from one angle, these are conflicting energies. The challenge is to reconcile the apparent contradiction, and find a way integrate the logical, rational mind with intuition, creativity and insight.
Until these energies are reconciled, there may be confusion, indecision, fogginess, and we are unlikely to receive the gifts from Venus and Jupiter. Creative work/play and meditation are great ways to move beyond this potential impasse. Set up your canvas, get out your notebook/camera/violin--whatever is your medium. Have it ready so that when inspiration strikes, you are prepared.
The mind doesn’t always notice gifts, opportunities and insights, because it tends to be so sure of what’s what. Can you think of an instance in the past when you were presented with an opportunity but didn’t see it as such? Maybe you didn’t realize until afterwards that some situation or offer was actually an opportunity for you and so you passed it up. What was it that got in the way? Notice your tendency to interpret things in a specific way; notice how assuming you know how things are can narrow your vision. Access that part of yourself that sees more broadly, that lives beyond the limiting beliefs, that resides in that open field of Idea/Vision/Insight. And then, when insight arrives, be ready: write it, sketch it, receive it, for insight is fleeting.
That said, just because an opportunity is offered, doesn’t mean you need to take it: just like in a job interview, we ought to interview the employer just as much as they interview us; see whether the offer is right for you, not just whether you are right for it.
Decisions can’t always be made with the intellect alone: we have to feel into them. Put the question to yourself, and notice what sensations arise in your body. Imagine deciding one way or the other. Visualize taking one course of action, and see how that makes you feel. If you don’t yet know the answer, that’s ok: let it simmer in the back of your mind. The answer or right course of action will arise spontaneously in time.
A beautiful use of this energy is innovation around abundance. Uranus is the revolutionary, and when directed toward Jupiter and Venus, which together represent abundance, this can remind us that abundance doesn’t require loads of money. It can help us see that the capitalist/consumerist dream is illusory--the rat race is hardly the abundant life, and money does not equal happiness. With some creativity, abundance is available to everyone. Let your hair blow in the wind as you ride your bike; indulge at a potluck or home-cooked feast; lounge at the beach/park/garden; find treasures at the thrift store or better, in the trash; grow a garden; practice gratitude; pamper yourself by painting your nails, having a bath, braiding your hair; create music/art/poetry…. All these things are (nearly) free and bring us (that much closer to) freedom (from consumerism, etc.). What are your creative ideas around abundance?
Mars shifts into Cancer this week. The warrior, Mars isn’t always sure what to do in nurturing Cancer. At its worst, this is a recipe for passive aggression. At its best, this is emotional courage, and protection of those we love. Transmute your crabbiness: it takes courage to face your own emotions and those of others; to love and be vulnerable; to stand up for the underdog; to fight for a cause; to truly, deeply care about others.
The sun squares the North Node, indicating that we are at a crossroads: one path leads forward, toward our evolution and soul’s growth; the other road represents our past, old habits, comforts, ego. With Mercury exiting its retrograde shadow this week, it’s time to decide, move forward, begin anew. There is so much energy encouraging us to choose wisely, to break an old habit or pattern, to open to relationship, cooperation, collaboration and community.
Stand in your intuition, your expanded field of vision and harness those lightning bolts of insight from Uranus; be rationally intuitive and intuitively rational; be a warrior of the heart! Let us create the future, together, now. <3 <3 <3
